Approximately 30 representatives of local government, CSOs, and media gathered at the Gori Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) on December 29th, 2014 for a discussion on public budget monitoring with EWMI ACCESS and Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC), a Tbilisi-based think tank. EPRC Executive Director Nino Evgenidze presented EPRC’s innovative budget monitoring web platform, www.priceofthestate.ge, and led interactive simulations to engage participants. The website provides users with the details of the Georgian state budget and several municipal and local budgets. Interactive features on the site also enable users to create their own state budgets with the available funds.
At the event, EWMI announced the launch of the ACCESS project and provided details about upcoming events, grant opportunities, and regional networking and capacity development activities. ACCESS will conduct at least 150 Best Practice and Innovation Events over the next five years to share strategies, identify best practices, and discuss solutions to civil society sector challenges in Georgia.
